People who have heard about the Bellwood Quarry know it as one of the wonders of Atlanta. That definitely peaked my interest. So one afternoon me, my brother, and Michael decided to see what it’s all about. After about an hour of being lost, we found an entry off a path surrounding the quarry. It was incredible and breathtaking to say the least! The photo I took does not do it justice at all. The pools of swirling blue and green waters against the granite formations is so beautiful. I’m sure mermaids live in it.

Shows like The Walking Dead and The Vampire Diaries have filmed in this location making it even more appealing to locals as a hangout spot and swimming. It is private property, so you would definitely take your chances in trespassing if you decide to see it for yourself.
The Bellwood Quarry is proposed to become the Westside Reservoir Park and will serve just as that: a park and a drinking water reservoir. It’s double the size of Piedmont Park, which makes it the future largest park in the city. It’s connected to the Beltline and promises an incredible skyline view of Atlanta. There’s also talks of a new Civic Center being built near the quarry.
I’m so excited! It’s just one of the gazillion amazing things happening in Atlanta.
