Hallo Amsterdam – June 24, 2011

Today we met the tour director, Jamie, after what seemed like forever of hopping and skipping into planes, trains, and automobiles. He’s British, vegan, engaged, had such dry humor, and sported a neat mustache. He was the best.

We checked into our hotel, but showering was out of the question as we were too excited to stay in the hotel much longer. So we ran out the doors into the city. We were finally in Europe for Pete’s sake!

We explored Amsterdam on foot – the best way to wander around a new city for sure! The smell of pot was in the crisp European air. The city was buzzing with locals and tourists. Bikes were flying left and right. It was the best feeling.

We then finished the day off with a traditional Dutch pannenkoeken dinner, which is very similar to a crepe. You can put a wide range of toppings, such as bacon, apples, and raisins. You can finish it off with a dark which syrup called stroop.

Energy sandwich - sort of expensive for something so puny. It was so savory and packed with flavors.
