I was taking a nap in the library when GSU announced over the intercom that classes were canceled because of the snow. Thankfully I was so excited that I busted out of there – thank goodness!!!
Otherwise, I would have been a prisoner of the gridlock that happened just a few hours later. People were stuck for a couple of days at most in their cars trying to go home. A lot of good samaritans walked over to people stuck in their cars with food and water. Some welcomed them into their homes or businesses.
I guess I could’ve walked home if I did get stuck, but I don’t think I could’ve abandoned my car. After all, it’s the most expensive thing I own. Plus my mom would not have been happy with me.
Anyway, the days that followed became a mini-vaca for me, Mikey, and Sir Minion. Walking down for beer and food to Taco Mac in VA High and seeing Sir Minion react to the snow were the highlights of the whole catastrophe. For the nights and days that followed, Mikey and I just walked around the neighborhood to enjoy the snow and to avoid cabin fever.
